The Whitefield Estate is one of the smaller Council estates within London Borough of Barnet, comprising of a number of houses, low and high rise flats. The regeneration of the estate is strongly linked to the redevelopment of nearby Brent Cross Shopping Centre and the construction of a bridge to improve access to it.
Like with many estates, plans to regenerate the area were discussed for many years leaving residents with an uncertain future.
On behalf of a large number of home owners on the estate, we submitted a large number of objections to the London Borough of Barnet (Brent Cross Cricklewood) Compulsory Purchase Order (No.1) 2015 and the London Borough of Barnet (Brent Cross Cricklewood) Compulsory Purchase Order (No.2) 2015. We are also negotiating for the sale of a large number of properties.
Along with our negotiations on the purchase prices and related compensation, we have also secured a number of concessions from the buyer including more time for sales to complete, a way to give some budget certainty for home owners long before they actually sell and some money up-front for our clients long before they sell.
We are also advising on the Compulsory Purchase process to home owners.
